Occasional light rain on Sunday morning did little to deter the more than 200 people that turned out to participate in the third annual Michael B. Proudfit Memorial 5K walk/run, which got underway at 9 a.m. at Memorial Park.
According to Rachel Schreiber, who coordinated the race, roughly 200 people preregistered for the event and another 30 or so signed up on Sunday morning to take part.
"I think this may be the biggest turnout we've had," Schreiber said.
Despite the weather, she noted that most of those who had preregistered showed up to take part in the event.
