Michael P. Vollmer

Michael P. Vollmer, 66, of 548 Fernwood Road, Houtzdale, and formerly of St. Marys died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
He was born June 3, 1945 in St. Marys, a son of the late Thomas and Kathryn Vollmer.
He was married to the late Dolores Vollmer.
Mr. Vollmer was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School and had worked at Stackpole for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and retired from the Army National Guard after more than 26 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and walking his dogs. He also enjoyed going for long rides in the car and was an avid Steelers fan.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Vollmer of Reading, Calif. and Angela Sharpe of Reading, Calif.; a son, Adam Vollmer of Reading, Calif.; two grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Vollmer and his wife Anita of St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Vollmer and Thomas Vollmer in infancy; and two sisters in infancy, Caroline and Clara Vollmer.
Funeral services for Michael P. Vollmer will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 North Michael St., St. Marys, on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ed Burkett officiating.
A military service will be conducted by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail. 
Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch- Green Funeral Home on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
