ST. MARYS - Around 300 people braved the threat of rain on Sunday morning to participate in the the inaugural Michael B. Proudfit Memorial 5K Walk/Run, which began and ended at Memorial Park in St. Marys. The race replaced the Picnic in the Park 5K, which had been held for the past two years.
The course start and finish line for the race was located near the concession stand in the middle of the park, and event coordinator Rachel Schreiber indicated that the unique route for the event, which traverses several roadways in the area of the park, was created for the original Picnic in the Park 5K and is not duplicated by any other races.
