Counties in the Northern Tier Regional Telecommunications Project Agency will be applying for wireless 911 funding made available by state government as reported during a Tuesday morning board of commissioners meeting.
"As part of our regional efforts to share resources, the state has allocated money for each county for the wireless 911 monies and we can apply for that," said Mike McAllister, director of emergency management for Elk County. "All counties in the northern tier have applied and that will allow us to continue our coordination with regionalization of assets. A primary example is the 911 phone system that we just put in as that was a joint venture with 10 counties now that Erie County is onboard.
