JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Municipal Authority reached a sales agreement to sell water to Hunt Marcellus, LLC, headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
During Tuesday evening's regular municipal authority meeting, authority members voted unanimously to sell their water at a rate of $8 per 1,000 gallons.
Authority members discussed the issue during executive session.
“What was discussed was a sales agreement with Hunt Marcellus, the gas company, to enter into an agreement to sell water to them at $8 per 1,000,” said chairman Eric Poague. “An agreement has been made to sell Hunt Marcellus Shale up to 500,000 gallons of water a day at two potential locations.”
Potentially, Hunt Marcellus employees will be able to fill their trucks at the fire hydrant along Market Street and at the corner of Long Level Road and Silver Creek Road in Jones Township.
“With the right that, if we don't have the water available, whether from drought or just not having it available, then we are not going to be selling it to them,” Poague said of the conditions of the agreement.
