Nerino R. Facchine, 89, of 1762 Bucktail Road, St. Marys, died on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born October 4, 1923 in Byrnedale, son of the late Joseph and Theresa Baruffalo Facchine.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Weedville schools. He had been an employee of Stackpole Carbon Company for over 25 years, founded Facchine Sanitation in Kersey in 1964 and was a self-employed mason.
In February 1976, in the Queen of the World Church, he married Sara Woelfel Wolfe, who survives.
Mr. Facchine was a member of the Queen of the World Church, the Fox Township Legion and the Emporium Moose Lodge. He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the Army in the European Theatre. He enjoyed play cards and getting hugs from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is also survived by three daughters, Mary Jo (Charles) Wheeler of St. Marys, Barbara (Steven) Ginther of St. Marys and Kathryn (Thomas) Krug of Brockway; a son, Daniel (Lou Ann) Wolfe of Emporium; seven grandchildren, Angela (Daniel) Breitkreutz, Nicholas (Noel Martinez) Krug, Thomas (Courtney) Krug, Jr., Rebecca (Robert) Burns, Brenda (Matthew) Conner, Cristin (Michael) Lilley and Angela Danner; and nine great grandchildren, Madison Breitkreutz, Sydney Breitkreutz, Grace Breitkreutz, Lydia Conner, Louie Conner, Hayden Lilley, Addison Lilley, Hunter Zebley and Treveyn Seeley.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith, who passed away in 1973; four sisters, Pearl Casper, Violet Jindy, Margaret Trenn and Doris DeLucia; and two brothers, Joseph Facchine and Rudolph â€śSonnyâ€ť Facchine. He was the last member of his immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Nerino R. Facchine will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemenâ€™s Burial Detail.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday evening, Jan. 20, 2013 from 6-9 p.m.
