New committee focused on emergency management

July 27, 2014

The recently formed St. Marys Emergency Management Committee is looking to work closely with the city and local emergency services in becoming more prepared to aid residents in times of emergencies and natural disasters.
"We want to get St. Marys to the point where we're self-sufficient. Where we can handle most incidents that occur within the city," said Councilman Greg Gebauer.
According to Gebauer, the formation of the committee was prompted by the May flooding disaster and having to work with various emergency services within the community.
One of the committee's top priorities is to appoint an Emergency Management Director, which will be a volunteer position.
