New officers at North Central
A nominating committee on Wednesday morning appointed Potter County Commissioner Douglas Morley as chairman of the executive committee of the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission [NCPRPDC].Morley has served as chairman of Potter County's Board of Commissioners since he was seated in January 2008 and was successfully elected in November 2011 for a second term.He has been an Allegany Township resident for the past 34 years, was a graduate of Northern Potter High School and attended Williamsport Area Community College.Having resided in Potter County all his life, the two-term commissioner previously worked at the Pure Carbon plant in Coudersport and also owned a small family restaurant before beginning a career in the banking industry that spanned two decades.Morley replaces Joe DeMott, one of three commissioners in McKean County."I appreciate Joe [DeMott] on what was an arduous year and a lot of the things that happened under [DeMott's] leadership allowed more board members to participate with structural dialogue, and I give him a lot of credit for that," said Eric Bridges, executive director at North Central. "[DeMott] recognized a lot of talent in the room and the opportunity that we have with this talent to be involved with many things. There are a lot of things under his leadership that we were able to put into play and I feel confident about our ability to comply with those things.
