Norma June Joiner

Norma June Joiner, 53, of Hoovertown Rd., Penfield, died suddenly at home on Sunday, March 30, 2014.
She was born June 11, 1960 in DuBois, daughter of the late Charles P. Snyder and Alice Rose (Card) Snyder, who survives.
A graduate of DuBois Area High School, she served in the U.S. Air Force as a medical aide.
She was a registered nursing assistant, working for Christ the King Manor for more than 30 years, including recently in the Alzheimer's Unit and also as a private hospice worker for many years.
She enjoyed helping with the Boy Scouts of America throughout the years, attending art classes at Double M Ceramics of Reynoldsville, helping others as a caregiver, the ocean, hiking, and the outdoors.
She lived most of her life in the DuBois and Penfield area except for her four years stationed in Nebraska.
In addition to her mother, Alice Rose (Card) Snyder of Mt. Run Road, Sabula, she is survived by her longtime partner, James Doucette of Penfield; two children, Alicia R. Sparling and her fiancé George Gregory of Kissimmee, Fla., and Charles R. (April) Sparling of Brockway; one brother, Edward (Missy) Snyder of Binghamton, N.Y.; one sister, Elma (Michael) Snyder of Binghamton, N.Y.; six grandchildren; her first husband, Gordy R. Sparling; a very close cousin, Daniel Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles P. Snyder.
A funeral service for Norma June Joiner will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, with Reverend Kenneth Sherwood.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, and Friday, April 4, from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded by the Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
