Ashley O'Dell, new community outreach coordinator at the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce, started in her new position in mid-December 2011 and has been busy getting to know various business owners and area residents.
"Mainly I serve as a liaison between the businesses and the Chamber. I go out into the community to listen to business owners' needs, as well as the needs of our community," O'Dell said.
The lifelong resident of St. Marys is married to Josh O'Dell and is the daughter of Steve and Shelley Eckl. She said working to promote businesses and help them grow in the town she grew up in fills her with a sense of pride.
"St. Marys is such a close-knit community. It seems that no matter where you go, you run into someone you know," O'Dell said. "You know, when you look at the history of this place and how much hard work went into making the area what it is today, it’s hard not to almost be in awe of it.
St. Marys is filled with hardworking people who aren’t afraid to pitch in and help each other. This is a great place to raise a family and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else."
