Omar H. Ives

Omar H. Ives, 88, of Tyler, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at DuBois Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 3, 1924 in Mason Hill, son of the late Omar and Myrtle (Hanscome) Ives.
He married Lillian (Silinsky), who survives, and the couple was married for 68 wonderful years.
Mr. Ives lived most of his life in Tyler. He served in the Navy during WWII. He worked many years at Airco Speer Carbon of St. Marys and was a member of the American Legion of Weedville. He enjoyed the woods, hunting, traveling, and most of all, his family. 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Omar “Junior” Ives of Tyler; one sister, Marian (Richard) Gerber of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Michael Ives and his fianceé Terri Fenice of Weedville, Ricky Gerber of Bradford and Troy (Michelle) Gerber of Ridgway; and two great-grandchildren, Alec and Sophia McManus.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Private services for Omar H. Ives were held Thursday at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield, with the American Legion Post 978 Burial Detail of Weedville according honors.
Interment was in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
There will be no visitation.
