Paterno supporters say his legacy will have lasting, positive impact

Former Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno's death on Sunday morning due to lung cancer has elicited an outpouring of grief and support among area members of the Penn State family - students, alumni, and fans.
Affectionately known as "JoePa," Paterno will likely continue to be remembered for decades to come for his actions, both on and off the football field. Although virtually all members of this Penn State family are experiencing grief, anger and sadness at the Jerry Sandusky scandal that continues to unfold, as well as the perceived action or inaction on Paterno's part, most have said they feel that the positive difference he made throughout his life will eventually be his overall legacy.
