Patricia Jeanne Clifford â€śJeanneâ€ť, 85, of 78 Station St., Daguscahonda, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 19, 1929, in Utica, daughter of the late Otto Fredericks and Genevieve Cratty Stitzinger.
Mrs. Clifford was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, James H. Clifford. She had been employed at Widmannâ€™s and Delulloâ€™s Shoe Store in St. Marys, and at Sylvania in Emporium in the early 1960s. She found her real passion when she took on a job as a self-taught re-upholster, she truly loved this type of work and meeting people. She organized several classes to teach the skill to others and she worked well into her mid-70s. She enjoyed reading, sewing, drawing and painting.
Jeanne was a faithful member of the Elk County Animal Protection Association, joining in 1985. She loved all animals and made it her main mission in life to not let any animal suffer or go homeless.
She is survived by two children, Jolene (Mark) Krise and Jeff (Stepanie) Clifford, both of Ridgway; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Hovis of California, Carol Edwards of New York, Marion Acuff of Washington, and Bonnie Glenn of Sigel; and by two brothers, Edward Fredericks of California and Lee Stitzinger of Brookville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Vicki Caros and Lynda Murphy; a sister, Peggy Haggard; and by a brother, Bobby Fredericks.
Memorial services for Patricia Jeanne Clifford will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 7 p.m. in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Craig Duffield, pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Interment will be in Newton Cemetery in Emporium. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to any humane society, Elk Haven Nursing Home or to a charity of donorâ€™s choice.
