Paul L. Jesberger to serve as parade Grand Marshal

Jesberger was a past commander of American Legion Post 103 in St. Marys and past president and chief steward of the St. Marys Legion Club. He was also a charter member of the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail and is presently an active member of the detail.

ST. MARYS - Paul L. Jesberger will serve as the Grand Marshal for this year's Memorial Day Parade, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28.
Jesberger was a past commander of American Legion Post 103 in St. Marys and past president and chief steward of the St. Marys Legion Club. He was also a charter member of the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail and is presently an active member of the detail.
In 1947, he enlisted in the Regular Army after high school. Following basic training at Fort Knox, he was assigned to the 8th Army, 5th Medical Supply Company in Yokohamo, Japan, supplying medical supplies and delivering them to all East Asia Army posts. Later he was assigned to the 302nd Field Hospital and attached to the 11th Airborne Division.
He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in August 1951.
He is married to Grace Hasselman and together they have three children and four grandchildren. He mentored two grandsons who earned their Eagle Scout badges by performing programs for the St. Marys Serviceman's Burial Detail. David Jesberger made the crosses at the St. Mary's Catholic Church lawn, honoring all local veterans killed while on active duty. Adam Jesberger registered and located all the graves of veterans in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
