Peggy J. Thorwart

Peggy J. Thorwart, 85, of 203 Adams St., Ridgway, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Robert and Ella Truschinger Brownlee. On July 6, 1946, she married Jack Thorwart. She retired as a supervisor from Alltel after 31 years service. She had also been employed for a number of years at Ferragine Spas and Pools. She was a graduate of Ridgway Area High School, Class of 1946.
She is survived by three children, Jill Steis of Ridgway, Jane Flannigan (Edward) of Mercer, and John Thorwart of Ridgway; a sister, Lillian Kreeber of Colonie, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Francine Thorwart of St. Marys; six grandchildren, Matt Steis of Ridgway, Amy (Flannigan) Deitz of Pittsburgh, Christine (Thorwart) Smith of St. Marys, Jessica Thorwart of San Diego, Calif., Michael Thorwart of Wilkes-Barre, and Kristen (Thorwart) (Zac) Magnusson of Columbus, Ohio; and by three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Thorwart; a grandson, Brian Flannigan; a granddaughter, and by her brother, Kenneth Brownlee.
Memorial services for Peggy Thorwart will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 7 p.m. in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Ron Burkett, pastor of the Hallton Church. Interment will be in Sarah Thayer Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 6 p.m.
