PennDOT imposing new restrictions on property owners

July 7, 2012

The Fox Township Supervisors expressed their disagreement with PennDOT's latest rule requiring municipalities apply for the Highway Occupancy Permits and accept responsibility for the maintenance of all requests to enclose surface stormwater facilities.
Roadmaster and supervisor Randy Gradizzi said this does not include driveway pipes along state roads.
He explained that previously when a resident had a ditch across their front yard they wanted to pipe in, they were required to apply for a highway occupancy permit, a process which entailed the resident having engineering work completed and submitted to PennDOT.
