Peter "Bud" Kunes

Peter "Bud" Kunes, 82, of Kunes Road, Weedville, died at home late Friday, July 19, 2013.
He was born December 28, 1930 in Weedville, the son of the late Peter L. and Nellie (Ray) Kunes.
In 1960 he married Vera L. (McClintick) and she survives.
He lived all his life in Weedville and was a graduate of Weedville High School, Class of 1949.
He served in the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of Corporal and serving on the front lines in Korea.
He worked for Penn Lines and worked 43 years at Pure Carbon. He was well known for landscaping and other work under the title Peter Kunes Trucking & Excavating.
He was a very active member of the Weedville Wesleyan Church where he was a Head Trustee, and member of the church board for 29 years, including president. He was also a Sunday school teacher for 40 years and was proud to have built the baseball field and picnic area. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Church board and president along with a member of the Mt. Zion Cemetery board. He was also a member of the Gideon's International, Men with Vision group and Mt. Zion Historical Society, being active with the formation of the Mt. Zion Memorial Park.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kelvin Kunes of Weedville; and three grandchildren, Mitchel, Samantha, and Raymond.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Rebo.
Funeral Services for Peter "Bud" Kunes will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23 at the Weedville Wesleyan Church with Pastor Luther Nelson Jr. and the Reverend Randy Swink officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Weedville American Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Weedville.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 23 from 10-11 a.m. at the Weedville Wesleyan Church in Weedville.
