PHARE funding to back $6 million Ridgway construction project

Photo by Colin Deppen The Elk County Board of Commissioners, pictured, approved a $500,000 memorandum of understanding with TREK, a Pittsburgh-based real estate development company planning to construct a $6 million senior care facility in Ridgway.

RIDGWAY – A new, $6 million senior housing complex is in the works for Ridgway, funded in large part by a federal tax credit designed to offset the diminishing effects of Marcellus Shale activity on affordable housing statewide. With Pittsburgh-based real estate development company TREK behind the venture, Project Manager Trey Barbour announced during Tuesday's meeting of the Elk County Board of Commissioners his company's plans to begin construction by year's end, with the undertaking expected to last between 10 and 12 months.
