Philip L. Woodford Jr.

Philip L. Woodford Jr., 52, of 8975 Hawthorne Rd., La Plata, Md., died August 23, 2011, as the result of a motorcycle accident, in White Plains, Md. He was born May 10, 1959, in St. Marys, the son of Philip L. and Lois Milliron Woodford Sr. On April 10, 1983, he married Anne’ Bonnagio, who survives.
Mr. Woodford had been a La Plata resident for 10 years. He was a member of the Moose Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and coin collecting. He was an avid Steelers fan.
He had served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years. He was employed by the National Geospacial/Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. His children will remember their father as flamboyant, robust, generous, and as a mentor, a leader, a friend and a family man.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Rabecca Woodford, Philip L. Woodford III, and Amanda Woodford, all of La Plata, Md; his mother and father, Lois and Sam Markert of Ridgway; three sisters, Edith Zameroski (Herk) of Ridgway, Lois Ann Harrison (Bob) of Niles, Ohio, and Susan Rhines of St. Marys; two brothers, Clint Woodford (Dawn) of Ridgway and Bruce Woodford of Ridgway; and by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Peter Bonnagio (Denise), Vincent Bonnagio, Charlie Miller (Stacy), and Michelle Esteban (Cristobal), all of Texas.
He was predeceased by his father; maternal grandparents, Forrest and Luella Milliron; and by his paternal grandparents, Joe and Edith Neverla.
Funeral and committal services for Philip L. Woodford Jr. will be held on Monday, August 29 at 1 p.m. in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Officiating will be Fr. Brian Vossler, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Interment will be in Lake Lawn Cemetery in Reynoldsville.
Friends will be received at the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home on Sunday, August 28 from 5-8 p.m. Military honors will be accorded by the Ridgway Military Honor Detail.
