Phillip Anthony DaMore Jr., DDS, 70, of 928 Fern Rd., St. Marys, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2012 at his home.
He was born Dec. 2, 1942 in DuBois, son of the late Phillip A. DaMore Sr. and Mary Cecilia Marino DaMore. On Dec. 19, 1970, in the St. Matthias Episcopal Church in East Aurora, N.Y., he married Nancy Ernst, who survives.
He attended Catholic high school and graduated from Sykesville Henderson Joint High School, Class of 1960. He graduated in 1963 from Penn State University with a B.S. degree in Biology and a minor in teaching. After teaching for several years, he entered Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in 1966 and graduated in 1970 as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He was commissioned to 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserves for 14 years.
Dr. DaMore decided to return home to establish a country dental practice to help the area people maintain their natural teeth for a lifetime. During his 41 years of practice in St. Marys, he became a specialist in Stomatognathic Equilibration and related extensive oral reconstruction. He also enjoyed his time writing, lecturing, developing and improving dental equipment, including new treatment procedures.
He was a member of the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Eighth District Dental Society, Fellowship in Academy of General Dentistry, Honorary Member of the American Equilibration Society, American Endodontic Society, and the Federation of Prosthodontic Organizations; and was a staff member of the medical/dental staff at Elk Regional Health Center.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by three children, Lori (Mrs. Randy) Williams of Fayetteville, Ga., Brian DaMore and his wife Kena of Greensboro, N.C., and Michael DaMore and his wife Trystan of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren, Charis and Trinity Williams and Luke, William and Jacob DaMore; a sister, Rosemary Nestor of Glassboro, N.J.; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Vandivort.
Private funeral services and committal for Phillip Anthony DaMore Jr. will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity.
