Phyllis A. DePrater

Phyllis A. DePrater, 89, of 214 Taft Rd., St. Marys, died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014.
She was born on October 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Freed Auman and Caroline Heiberger Auman Geitner.
On May 4, 1946 in St. Mary's Church, she married Benedict A. DePrater, who preceded her in death on June 21, 2012.
Mrs. DePrater was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Mary's Church. She retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 24 years of service. She enjoyed dining out with her husband, playing bingo, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Ferris of St. Marys; three sons, Stephen (Doris) DePrater of St. Marys, David (Mary) DePrater of Johnsonburg and Bradley (Mary Ellen) DePrater of Valley View, Texas; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a brother, Glenn Geitner of St. Marys, and by her special little friend, Shelby.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Henry Geitner; a grandson, DeWayne Ferris; a son-in-law, James Ferris; three brothers, Fred, Marinus, and Willis; a sister, Virginia, and by four siblings in infancy, Lucille, Eloise, Gervis and Milton.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis A. DePrater will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at noon at St. Mary's Church, Church St., St. Marys with Fr. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 from 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
