RIDGWAY – The Elk County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday reviewed their new policies regarding the sale of properties from the repository.
Repository properties are available for the general public to purchase free and clear of any liens. Interested parties must place a bid with the bureau for the property and then all three taxing bodies (the local municipality, the local school board, and the county commissioners), must approve the bid for all the property to be sold. There is no minimum bid required for repository properties, according to documentation obtained from the county's Tax Claims office.
