From left to right, Father Brian Vossler, Rose Heindl, Dennis Heindl and Bishop Donald Trautman are shown at a recent gathering to present Mr. and Mrs. Heindl with the "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" award. The tradition of giving this award started on July 17, 1888 to commemorate the golden sacerdotal jubilee of Pope Leo XIII in the Vatican. The tradition was gradually extended to the whole church for distinguished service given by lay people and clergy to the church. It is the highest medal that can be awarded to the laity by the Pope in the Catholic Church.
