Program prepares kindergarteners for school

In a few weeks students will be starting back to school including the area's newest kindergarteners. In order to prepare them for elementary school Dickinson Center, Inc. (DCI) conducted a Kindergarten Readiness Program.
The three-week program was open to all incoming kindergarten students enrolled at South St. Marys Street, Fox Township, and Bennetts Valley elementary schools.
South St. Marys Street Elementary School hosted all four different sessions, each being held two days a week for two-and-a-half hours. Students could choose to participate in a morning or afternoon session.
Deborah Freeburg, DCI LIFE program caseworker, facilitated the program now in its third year. She was assisted by Cortney Woodel, a local Clarion University student interning with the organization.
