Ralph A. Rudolph
Ralph A. Rudolph, 84, of First North St., Knoxdale, and recently of Nelson’s Golden Years of DuBois, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at Nelson’s Golden Years.He was born Dec. 8, 1926 in Hollywood, Pa., son of the late Walter and Goldie (Lucore) Rudolph. On Jan. 13, 1951, he married Olga Koropal, who predeceased him in 1991. He was born and raised in Hollywood, lived in Pittsburgh for four years, moved back to Hollywood and lived there from 1950 to 1975, and in 1975 moved to Knoxville, where he had made his home with Sara Gelnette. He had lived at Nelson’s Golden years since 2008.He was a graduate of Penfield High School, Class of 1945, and a graduate of Duffs Business College in Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management. After several years at Fort Pitt Bridge, he returned home to take over his father’s one-stop store in Hollywood and also became a justice of the peace and an agent for National Grange Insurance. He became general manager of Armagost Steel of DuBois and a purchasing agent for Trail King Trailers of Brookville, retiring after 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a 50-year member of the Lions Club, Penfield Firemen’s, Bennetts Valley Rod & Gun Club, DuBois Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Bennetts Valley American Legion. He was also a member of the NRA, AARP and Eagles. He was a past officer and 7th-degree granger and served on the Maple Avenue Advisory Board. He loved traveling and camping.He is survived by a son, Robert A. Rudolph and his wife Kim of Penfield, and a daughter, Alice Pirraglia of Penfield. A memorial service for Ralph A. Rudolph will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at the Penfield United Methodist Church, with Pastor Debra Rogosky officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley American Legion Post 978 Burial Detail. Interment will take place at Morningside Cemetery.There will be no visitation. The family suggests memorials to Penfield United Methodist Church or Penfield Volunteer Fire Company.
