Ralph "Sonny" Meloni, 79, of 278 Elm St., Weedville, died at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys on the morning of Thursday, Sept.13, 2012.
He was born Sept. 17, 1932 in Force, a son of the late Mario L. and Ruby Taylor Meloni.
On Sept. 8, 1956 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Force, he married Neomi D. Walters Meloni, who survives.
Mr. Meloni entered the military in 1953 and served with the U.S. Army for 17 months during the Korean War. After the war he worked at Stackpole Carbon and later for the former Elk Builders in the pluming department. He also owned Meloni Tires in Weedville. He was a member of the Bennetts Valley American Legion Post 978, Weedville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Laraine Freemer and her husband John of Force, and Cheryl Shimmel of Weedville; a son, Chuck Meloni and his wife Sue of Grampian; four grandchildren, Allison Meloni and fiance Ben Schneider, Allan Meloni, Samantha Shimmel and Kayla Meloni; one great-granddaughter Madison Nicklas; one step great-granddaughter, Kristy Richardson; two brothers, Robert Meloni and his wife Isabelle of DuBois, and Donald Meloni of Kersey; two sisters, Leola Maraglia of Weedville and Doris Pfaff of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Leroy Meloni; and a sister, Margaret Porco.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ralph "Sonny" Meloni will be celebrated at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17735 Bennetts Valley Highway, Force, on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Thomas Tyler, pastor, as celebrant. A military service will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley Honor Guard. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, Emporium, on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.
