Raymond C. Wortman Sr.

Raymond C. Wortman Sr., 92, of Erie, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at Golden Living Walnut Creek.
He was born in St. Marys on June 5, 1920, the son of the late Bernard “Ben” and Mary Goetz Wortman.
A graduate of St. Marys High School, Ray was a hard-working man who had worked with the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Erie Forge and Steel, and Kaiser Aluminum.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Gocal Wortman; his son, Ray C. Wortman Jr. (Kay Von Fry); and four sisters: Alice Magistrelli, Florence Azzato, Rita Zamboldi and Louise Meier.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary C. Howard Wortman; five brothers, Gervase, Leo, Regis, Ivan, and Father Ildephonse, O.S.B.; and one sister, Mary Jane Salter.
Friends of Raymond C. Wortman Sr. may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St. at Powell Avenue, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church on Thursday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Ted Marconi as celebrant. Private burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Clarion.
