Raymond D. Cook, 93, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, formerly of St. Marys and Truman, died on Friday, Oct. 25 at the DuBois Regional Hospital.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1920 in Freedom Station, Ohio, the son of William and Helen Cook. On Jan. 26, 1943, he married Dolores Davis, who preceded him in death in 1999. They were married for 56 years.
Raymond Cook was sworn into the Army Air Corps in the fall of 1942 and served in World War II. He became a member of the exclusive Caterpillar Club by using his parachute to escape from a disabled aircraft. He remained in the Inactive Reserves from Dec. 1945 to Dec. 1955. His final rank was 1st Lieutenant.
He retired from Keystone Carbon Company in 1985. Ray enjoyed golfing, cards, gardening, hunting and his family. He was a long time member of American Legion Post 103.
He is survived by six children, Michael (Kathy), Patricia Bankovic, Victoria (Bill) Nussbaum, Anna Marie (Paul) Farrell, Eileen Mecca and Laura Cook; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Robert, John and Paul Cook; and three sisters, Martha Lee, Joan Cook and Erma Spaeth.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Shannon Nicole Mecca, a sister, Mary Eileen hogan, and two brothers, James and William Cook.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond D. Cook will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with interment at St. Mark's Cemetery, Emporium, Pa. following Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Community Nurses of Clearfield County, American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
