Registration continues for Girl Scout Camp

July 16, 2011

Registration continues for the Girl Scouts' annual summer camp taking place from July 27-30 at Camp AdaHi on West Theresia Road in St. Marys, next to Walmart. Area scouts and non-scouts, from kindergarten through grade 12, are invited to attend. Registration forms are available at Memorial and Benzinger parks, the St. Marys Community Pool and the St. Marys Public Library. There is a cost for the camp.
Camp director Jean Kirst explained this year's camp will have a beach theme complete with a luau, water/boating safety, crafts, activities and games.
Girls will also be making their own food, including pizza mountain pies, "garbage can" cooking, walking tacos, snacks, banana boat sundaes and more. Additional activities include the traditional flag ceremony, an opportunity to learn camping skills and the camaraderie of fellow girls. Last year, 72 girls attended the camp; there are currently 55 girls registered for this year.
Kirst, along with Julie Miller, co-director, and a staff of 12 adults will oversee campers, who have the option of sleeping over Friday night. This is Kirst's second year as camp director and her fourth year assisting at the camp. Those seeking additional information may contact Kirst at 594-5568 or Amy Anderson at 834-2821.
