RIDGWAY - Tough scoring conditions met both Ridgway and Elk County Catholic but the Elkers were able to defeat the Crusaders 212-220 in action Tuesday afternoon at Laurel Mill Golf Course.
Josh Roselli of Ridgway was the medalist for the day with his score of 36.
"The scores were high for the two top teams in District 9 as Laurel Mill Golf Course played tough," Ridgway coach Dave Zawatski said. "Give Josh Roselli credit for being that guy that we have been searching for and going low to make the difference."
Jake Klawuhn and Mitchell Gilmore both finished with scores of 43. Jesse Reynolds and T.J. Schlimm had cards of 45 to round out Ridgway's team score.
Matt Aiello and Josh Mitchell both finished at 47 while Morgan Eckenroth had a score of 48.
Elliott Struble led the Crusaders with a score of 38. Mitchell Struble and Jess Jaynes each had scores of 45 while Bruno Cavalline and Brandon Schlimm finished at 46 to round out ECC's team score.
Drew Meyer had a 48 and Alan Brennan carded a 49 for ECC. Kristy Hanes finished with a 53 for Elk County Catholic.
This was Ridgway's last regular-season home match but the Elkers will have another chance to play the course as Ridgway will host Punxsutawney in the AML Championship at 10 a.m. Saturday. It will be an 18-hole event. Ridgway honored its six seniors as well. The seniors were Dustin Reed, Dan Connolly, Jesse Reynolds, Josh Mitchell, Matt Aiello and Morgan Eckenroth.
"[Tuesday night] was all about the seniors," Zawatski said. "What a way for them to go out in their last regular-season match. Dustin Reed and Dan Connelly are great guys who will be sadly missed. Matt Aiello and Morgan Eckenroth have come so far, so fast. They are a huge part of this 12-1 team. And how about Jesse Reynolds and Josh Mitchell? You want to see some impressive numbers, check out their teams' records over the last two years or so. That is no accident. The coaches are going to miss them all."
