Rita Jane Selle

Rita Jane Selle, 93, of 651 S. St. Marys Rd., St. Marys, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at the UPMC Cranberry Place Skilled Nursing in Cranberry Township after a yearlong battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 2, 1917 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Englebert and Mary Woelfel Cassady.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Sacred Heart School and was a graduate of St. Benedict's Academy, Class of 1935. She was an employee of the former St. Marys Trust Co. and also was a secretary for the Trambley Law Office.
On July 15, 1949, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Henry J. "Hank" Selle, who preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Williams, in 1945.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, member and former Regent of the CD of A, a member of and served as president of the professional Secretary's Association, served as secretary/treasurer of the Cancer Society of Elk County and was a member of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary's Church choirs.
She is survived by a daughter, Jane Lander and her husband Thomas of Cranberry Township; and two grandchildren, Timothy Lander of San Francisco, Calif. and AnnaMarie Lander of Cranberry Twp.
Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerome H. Selle on April 19, 1961; three sisters, Helen Hornung and in infancy, Mae and Marie Cassady; and by two brothers, Norbert Cassady and in infancy, Patrick Cassady. She was the last member of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rita Jane Selle will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Monday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
