Rita M. Blackburn

Rita M. Blackburn, 75, of Victorville, CA, and formerly of St. Marys, died on Sept. 21, 2010, surrounded by her family at her home in Victorville following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 19, 1935 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late George and Avis Peckham Goodreau.
On Aug. 17, 1966, in Reno, Nevada, she married the late Simon Blackburn, who preceded her in death in April 1994.
She graduated from the St. Marys Public High School, Class of 1952, and lived in California for the past 52 years. She retired from the Civil Service at the GA Air Force Base after many years. She enjoyed reading and trips to Las Vegas. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed baseball.
She is survived by a stepson, Gary Blackburn and his wife, Vicki of Arkansas; a stepdaughter, Suzanne Blackburn of California; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Geraldine Witherson, Carol Dornish and Joyce Hanes, all of St. Marys; and by a brother, Steve (Sponge) Goodreau and his wife, JoAnn of St. Marys; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Karen Little; a brother, John Goodreau; and a sister, Lois Brunner.
Funeral services for Rita M. Blackburn will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Earleyville Cemetery in Kersey.
