The Elk County road improvement project on state Route 120 that began last year and resumed in April is expected to be completed by September.
The work zone on SR 120 stretches east for four miles from Ridgway toward St. Marys.
"Work includes concrete patching, concrete resurfacing, curbing and ramps, manhole adjustments, drainage and guide rail updates," said Marlaine Fannin, public information officer for PennDOT District 2, which includes Elk County.
Crews have begun moving equipment and materials and are working on drainage upgrades, tree trimming, guide rail replacements and paving.
According to Fannin, all work will be performed Monday through Friday during daylight hours and drivers will continue to encounter flaggers on the roadway.
Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on the $3 million project.
