Robert J. "Bob" Lucanik

Robert J. "Bob" Lucanik, 75, of 401 West Theresia Rd., St. Marys, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 17, 2010 at his home following a short illness.
He was born Jan. 6, 1935 in St. Marys, a son of the late George and Mary Resko Lucanik.
On June 8, 1968 in St. Marys, he married Rose Nussbaum Lucanik, who survives.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965 with the 171st Airborne Brigade. He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 36 years of service. Following his retirement from Stackpole, he worked for a number of years at Printing Plus. He was a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross, having donated more than 40 gallons of blood over the years. He greatly enjoyed gardening, bird watching and caring for his lawn. He was especially fond of his two dogs, Holly and Lacey, that he had rescued from a shelter. He also enjoyed spending time with his nephews and was anticipating the birth of one of his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of more than 42 years, Rose Nussbaum Lucanik, he is survived by a daughter, Valerie, Mrs. Chester Lundy of Gainesville, NY; a son, Keith Lucanik and his wife, Ruth, of Emporium; four grandchildren, Aaron and Nathen Lundy of Gainesville, NY and Scott and Karen Lucanik of Emporium; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Monica Caine of Ohio and Rita Wehler of St. Marys; and several special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Peter, Joseph and Edward Lucanik; and two sisters, Veronica Byers and Mary Dornish.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Lucanik will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 325 Center St., St. Marys, on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
A Military Service will be conducted by the St. Marys Serviceman's Detail.
There will be no visitation.
Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., St. Marys, is handling the arrangements.
