Robert J. "R.J." Schreiber Sr.
Robert J. "R.J." Schreiber Sr., 82, of 360 Main St., Kersey, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Elk Regional Health Center. He was born July 16, 1929, in Kersey, son of the late Karl and Gertrude Pontzer Schreiber. On Oct. 28, 1950, in the St. Mary's Church, he married Helen Welz, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 1978. On Oct. 21, 1993, in Wilcox, he married Margaret (Maggie) Shields McCoy, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2011. They were married by Fr. Norbert Wolf. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Boniface School. He retired from Keystone Carbon Co. in 1988 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the St. Boniface Church; a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army; a former member of the Fox Township Planning Commission; and a member of the Fox Township Lions, K of C, and American Legion Post 511. He is survived by five daughters, Holly Daley (Jerry) of St. Marys, Amy Thorne of Kersey, Betsy Nissel (Tom) of St. Marys, Susie Budowsky (Kenny) of Hollywood, Fla., and Mary Foley (Bill) of Danville, Va.; two sons, Robert Schreiber Jr. (Paulette) of Kersey and Kie Schreiber of Kersey; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Marone of Vista, Calif. and Oney McGowan (Jim) of Kersey; a brother, Gus Johnson (Lawanda) of Kissimee, Fla.; two step-daughters, Ellen Edgreen of Mammoth and Lisa Miller (Ronald) of Latrobe; three step-sons, Michael McCoy of DuBois, Thomas McCoy (Janet) of Cartersville, Ga., and Matthew McCoy (Lori) of St. Marys; 12 step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Larson and Mary Jane Urbancic; by two brothers, Jack Schreiber and Mack Schreiber; and by a step-son, Curtis McCoy. A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert J. "R.J." Schreiber Sr. will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. James Faluszczak, pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Township Servicemen's Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Boniface Church, 355 Main St., Kersey, PA 15846; or to the Maria House Project, PO Box 10682, Erie, PA 16514.
