Romaine M. Shannon

Romaine M. Shannon, 74, of 415 Walnut Street, St. Marys, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, surrounded by her family, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 12, 1936, in Kersey, daughter of the late Jerome E. and Theresa Gahr Copella.
On Aug. 25, 1956, in the St. Boniface Church, she married Terrence J. Shannon Sr., who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1954. She was a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Company, retiring in 1993 after 12 years of service. She was a member of the Queen of the World Church, loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren, enjoyed painting ceramics and loved to clean.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Deborah Schatz and her husband Albert of St. Marys, Susan Bobenrieth and her husband Donald of St. Marys, and Sonia Scutella and her husband Paul of St. Marys; three sons, Terrence Shannon Jr. and his wife Kathy of St. Marys, David A. Shannon of Kersey, and Michael J. Shannon and his wife Nicole of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Rose Mattivi and her husband Bruno of Kersey, Geraldine Mattivi and her husband Irvin of Raleigh, NC, and Barbara Schatz and her husband Donald of St. Marys.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Francis X. Shannon, in 1995; a sister, Rita Greenawalt; and a brother, Gerald Copella.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Romaine M. Shannon will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Ferrick officiating. Burial will be in the Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, Center Street, on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
