Rose Marie Smith

Rose Marie Smith, 90, died Monday, April 15, 2013, five days short of her 91st birthday, at her home near Renovo.
She was born April 20, 1922, the youngest child of the late Jacob Kingsley and Emma (Smyers) Beck on Gardner Hill, Weedville.
She married Leonard J. Smith August 23, 1948; he preceded her in dead in October, 1990.
She lived most of her life on Gardner Hill in Weedville and also lived in Emporium, Warren, DuBois, Gettysburg, Emlenton, Milroy and the last five years in Renovo. She graduated from the Jay Township High School in 1940.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Renovo. She enjoyed the outdoors, seeing wild animals, flowers, and riding motorcycles, especially Harleys. Over the years she had worked at Sylvania in Emporium and Warren, and at the Shoney's and KFC in Gettysburg.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Alan Smith of Renovo; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nephews and nieces, and great-great-nephews and nieces.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her 12 older siblings, Amy Strouse, Leroy Beck, Jeremiah Beck, Anna Hall, Charles Beck, Lois Henderson, Maria Beck, James Beck, Alvira Beck, Harvey Beck, John Beck, and Emma Dolly Smith.
Funeral services for Rose Marie Smith will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Renovo with the Reverend Will Moser officiating.
Interment will take place at the Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
Visitation will be held at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield on Thursday, April 18 from 6-9 p.m. and at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Renovo on Friday, April 19 from 10-11 a.m.
The family suggests memorials to “Lutheran World Relief” C/O Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 11th Street and Huron Avenue, Renovo, PA 17764.
