Ruth Pistner

Ruth Pistner, 94, of 817 Million Dollar Highway, St. Marys, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Force, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Agnes Shortt Cook. On Sept. 27, 1943, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Joseph G. Pistner, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1990.
Mrs. Pistner was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Weedville High School. She was a former employee of Kanter's and the Riverside Market. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and loved her grandchildren and enjoyed being with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Wurm and her husband Thomas of St. Marys; four sons, James J. Pistner and his wife Cheryl of St. Marys, Richard A. Pistner and his wife Carol of St. Marys, Joseph H. Pistner of St. Marys, and Gerald D. Pistner and his wife Andrea of St. Marys; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathleen Benigni, Helen (Nellie) Trentine, and Marguerite Cook; and by a brother, Moarle Cook. She was the last member of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth E. Pistner will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Ferrick as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
