Sandy L. Leithner, 59, of State Road, Johnsonburg, died at home on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1952 in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Sidney Sprague and Donna (Nitsche) Sprague, who survives in Johnsonburg.
She married Michael “Red” Leithner on August 27, 1982. He survives in Johnsonburg.
She was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1970. She worked for many years at the Johnsonburg Paper Mill, Elk County 911 Call Center; and as an administrative assistant with the Elk County Elections Office. She lived all her life in Johnsonburg.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two children, Jason and his wife Emily Leithner of Penfield and Ashley Leithner of Fort Campbell, Ky. who is currently serving in Afghanistan; two grandchildren; one brother, Larry Sprague of Johnsonburg; and three sisters, Diane Oglesby of Johnsonburg, Mrs. Steve (Peggy) Aharrah of Ridgway, and Lori Sprague of Wilcox.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a brother, James Sprague.
Funeral services for Sandy L. Leithner will be held at the family’s convenience.
There will be no visitation.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
