Sara J. Parana

Sara J. Parana, 76, of 400 Rock St., Ridgway, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Sept. 19, 1936 in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Jacob and Marquerite Smith Ames. On Aug. 28, 1959, she married Joseph V. Parana, who survives.
Mrs. Parana was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She had been a Ridgway resident for 35 years.
She had been employed at Ridgway Area High School, retiring in 1991. Mrs. Parana loved animals and enjoyed reading.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Amy Gross (Mark) of St. Marys; three sons, Justin Parana of Johnsonburg, Gerard Parana of Kansas City, Kansas, and Chad Parana of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Nathan Parana and Jodi Parana; five great-grandchildren, Christian, Evan, Kiarra, Aaliyah Parana, and Bryce Johnson; and by a sister, Martha Hanson of Clarendon.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Wildman and Lois Eckert.
Memorial services for Sara J. Parana will be held in the Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. There will be no visitation.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ridgway Public Library, 329 Center St., Ridgway, PA 15853; to the St. Marys Public Library, 127 Center St., St. Marys PA 15857; or to the Elk County Humane Society, 1029 Eschbach Rd., St. Marys, PA 15857.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home.
