Schneider issues 2010 fire report

John M. Schneider, fire chief of the Jay Township Volunteer Fire Co., attended Thursday evening's meeting of the Jay Township Supervisors to deliver the department's 2010 fire report.
According to Schneider, the department responded to 95 calls during 2010 within Jay and Benezette townships.
Those calls were made up of 24 motor vehicle crashes, 15 structure fires, one vehicle fire, two bush/grass fires, one activated alarm, six instances of trees/wires down, two gas leaks, four ambulance assistance calls, two landing zone calls, six basement pumping requests, three traffic control requests, two stand-by requests, four carbon monoxide investigations, three requests to assist in finding a lost person, and 20 public service calls.
"Broken down, there were 59 calls in Jay Township, 20 in Benezette, four in Fox Township, six in Huston Township and six in Sinnemahoning," Schneider said.
