St. Marys Catholic Elementary students gathered in church Monday morning for a short prayer service to remember the events of Sept. 11, 2001 and pray for all of the people affected by it, including those who died in the attacks, those who responded, those who now fight in wars as a result of that day and those who still mourn the loss of loved ones. The Scripture readings reminded students to, “Love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” They also heard about the positive things that happened that day 10 years ago, such as people going to church, people saying “I love you” and people helping others, even strangers. Students also prayed for peacemakers and that we all may find peace in our day. The service closed with the hymn, "Prayer of St. Francis."
