Shirlee M. Salberg

Shirlee M. Salberg, 84, of 1939 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died unexpectedly at her residence on Friday.
She was born Dec. 13, 1926 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Mader) Markert. She married Ray H. Salberg on June 18, 1949, and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2002.
She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she had been very active, including being a past church council member. She was a past member of the board of directors at the Lutheran Home at Kane, a member of the Women's Card Club, and a football fan of the Ridgway Elkers, Steelers, and Penn State. She enjoyed golfing, planting flowers, yard work, being a caregiver, and the beach.
She was a graduate of Ridgway High School and the Meadville City Hospital of Nursing in 1947. She had been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a state nurse for 25 years and as a registered nurse at the medical office of Dr. Thompson for 20 years.
She is survived by one brother, Robert Markert and his wife Georgette of Gibsonia; one niece and six nephews; and four great-nieces and four great-nephews.
Funeral and Committal Services for Shirlee M. Salberg will be held at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Eric Hart, pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Oakmont Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-5 p.m.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Community Nurses, Inc. or to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
