SMA and ECC track and field teams split

Dutch and Lady Crusaders record wins

The St. Marys Area track and field teams hosted the Elk County Catholic squads Tuesday. The Dutchmen defeated the Crusaders 96.5-53.5, while the Lady Crusaders defeated the Lady Dutch 109-41.
In the boys’ meet, the Dutchmen were led by quadruple winner Brian Merritt. Merritt won the 100 and 200 dashes and was a member of the winning 400 and 1600 relays.
Triple winners for the Dutchmen were Jimmy Werner in the shot put, discus and 400 relay and Trenton Schreiber in the triple jump, 400 and 1600 relays.
Double winners for St. Marys were Alec Foster in the 800 and 1600 runs and Mitchell O’vell in the 300 hurdles and 1600 relays.
Single winners for the Dutch were Justin Quiggle in the 400 relay and Gideon Woelfel in the 1600 relay.
For the Crusaders, Jake Herbstritt was a triple winner, taking the long and high jumps and the javelin.
Double winners for ECC were Caleb Lecker in the 3200 run and 3200 relay, Ryan Detsch in the 400 dash and 3200 relay and Dylan Hodgdon in the 110 hurdles and pole vault.
Single winners for the Crusaders were Drew Bille and Joe Hoffman in the 3200 relay.
For the Lady Crusaders, Nicole Florio and Kirstie Wehler were triple winners. Florio won the high jump, 200 dash and was a member of the 1600 relay team. Wehler won the long and triple jumps and was a member of the winning 1600 relay team.
Double winners for the Lady Crusaders were Abbi Petrosky in the 100 and 300 hurdles, Elizabeth Nicklas in the shot put and discus, Emma Glatt in the 100 dash and 400 relay and Kennedy Weisner in the 3200 run and 400 dash.
Single winners for ECC were Jessica Franco in the pole vault, Marla Scacchitti, Emma Daghir and Danielle Healy in the 400 relay, and Sydney Stauffer and Morgan Onink in the 1600 relay.
Double winners for the Lady Dutch were Shannon Bridges and Adair Gennocro. Bridges won the 800 run and was a member of the winning 3200 relay. Gennocro won the 1600 run and was a member of the winning 3200 relay.
Singles winners were Sloan Foster and Lauren McAnany in the 3200 relay and Kelsey Bonifay in the javelin.
Both the SMA and ECC teams return to action on Saturday when they compete at the Kane Invitational.
