SMA cross country teams sweep Brookville squads

The St. Marys Area cross country teams swept the Brookville squads in a meet held at Brookville on Tuesday.
The Dutchmen defeated the Raiders by a 22-34 score, while the Lady Dutch downed the Lady Raiders 19-36.
SMA’s Adair Gennocro won the girls’ meet with a time of 21:22. Katie Zents of Brookville was next with a time of 22:32. St. Marys took the next four spots to win the meet: at third was Kaley Williams in 24:04, followed by Michaela Rupprecht in 27:47, Cassie Wonderling in 28:57 and Rachel Schreiber with 29:12.
Dutchman Justin Huey won the boys’ race with a time of 18:58. Alec Foster of the Dutch placed second with a time of 19:10. Third place went to Shane Hummel of the Raiders, with his teammate Nick Gursky taking fourth in 19:42. Dylan Shields of the Dutch rounded out the top five with a time of 19:51.
Nathan McFadden of the Dutch was sixth in 20:05, followed by Justin Ransel of Brookville in 20:32 in seventh, Konstantin Deyev of the Dutch with 21:08 in eighth, and Tyler Kidder of Brookville in 21:21 in ninth place. Rounding out the top ten was Jon Prechtl of the Dutch in 22:01.
Jordan Agosti of the Dutch placed 16th in 24:49, while teammate Jeff Wagner was 17th in 28:38.
“The course was nice, the weather was great and the competition was friendly,” said St. Marys coach Stan Foster. “We were able to work on some key factors that will help us in the District meet in a couple of weeks.”
“Justin Huey and Jon Prechtl will celebrate their final dual meet and final home course meet next Tuesday for Senior Night against Brockway and Ridgway,” Foster added.
The Dutch are now 8-4 on the year, while the Lady Dutch are now 7-3 on the season. St. Marys will host Brockway and Ridgway next Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
