May 9, 2012

Photo by Amy Cherry - As part of the Prom Promise initiative, SMAHS was the scene of a graphic accident simulation Wednesday. The mock crash is intended to drive home the sobering consequences of the tragic effects of drunk driving.

A graphic accident simulation drove home the sobering consequences of the tragic effects of drunk driving during Wednesday's Prom Promise mock crash hosted by St. Marys Area High School.
The event began in the auditorium as SMAHS Principal Dr. Josh Williams provided a brief introduction.
A video detailing events leading up to the crash included scenes involving a group of boys drinking prior to going to the prom as they drove their pickup truck throughout the town often doing 'donuts' in various lawns; girls preparing for the prom; a couple eating at a local restaurant; the truck full of boys drinking inside their truck before entering the prom; students dancing at the prom then driving home as the crash takes place.
