On Tuesday evening, the academic excellence of St. Marys Area High School juniors and seniors was celebrated as students were inducted into the National Honor Society.
Among those honored were 35 first-year junior members, 33 second-year senior members and one senior who was a first-year member.
A dinner program was held prior to the start of the event where SMAHS student Scott Barber, master of ceremonies, was joined by fellow student Erica Bauer, who led the invocation.
Students and their families then gathered inside the Carpin Auditorium for the initiation ceremony into the Dr. Walter Black Chapter of the National Honor Society.
Following the student procession, students Kearsten Trunzo and Claire Waggoner lit the Torch of Knowledge.
