SMAMS students attend leadership conference
ERIE - St. Marys Area Middle School students participated in the Northwest Pennsylvania Middle School Association (NWPMSA) Student Leadership Conference held on Oct. 19 at the James S. Wilson Middle School in Erie. The NWPMSA joined with Rachel’s Challenge, a nonprofit organization in memory of Rachel Joy Scott, the first student killed in the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado. Following her death, Rachel’s father has carried her message of caring and compassion to millions of students around the world with the belief that students can be a driving force in changing and moving their schools and communities in a positive direction. The conference included a multimedia assembly and a leadership training session that challenged all participants to positively impact their schools through acts of kindness, mentoring, making positive decisions, and goal setting.
