SMASD to announce assistant principal position

May 8, 2014

With enrollment of nearly 630 students coupled with the increasing number of special education students, South St. Marys Street Elementary may soon have a new administrator on staff to continue to serve its students.
The St. Marys Area School District board of directors unanimously approved to advertise for an anticipated 10-month position at the school both internally and externally.
According to Superintendent Ann Kearney, this position would require someone with administrative certification and special education background to serve as the assistant principal as well as the Local Educational Agency (LEA) at the Individualized Educational Program (IEP) meetings for students who receive special education and related services.
They will also assist in teacher evaluations, meetings, parent calls and conferences and host in-service activities.
