SMASD board of directors approves personnel items

At the recent meeting of the St. Marys Area Board of School Directors, the board approved several new personnel items.
All employment recommendations are provisional for 30 days pending receipt of Act 151 and Act 34 clearance documentation.
Professional personnel resignations were accepted for Theresa Dahl of St. Marys as a teacher.
Support personnel resignations were accepted for Jessica Yonkofski of Kersey as cafeteria monitor. Supplemental contract resignations were accepted for Mike Kunes as assistant football coach and weight room supervisor.
The following professional personnel were hired: Barbara Cousins of St. Marys as school nurse, effective Aug. 22; Suzann Erickson of Penfield as school psychologist at $48,000 per year, effective Aug. 22. The following support personnel were hired: Michael Cannon of St. Marys as access vehicle aide at $8 per hour, effective Aug. 23; Meghan Fitch of Brockport as tutor at $10 per hour, effective Sept.; Kellyann Hutchins of Ridgway as classroom aide at $7.50 per hour, 5.5 hours per day, effective Aug. 23; Cassandra Klaiber of St. Marys as LPN/ secretary at $11.50 per hour, effective Sept. 6; Krista Klein of St. Marys as tutor at $10 per hour, effective Sept. 14; Robin Park of St. Marys as cafeteria worker at $7.50 per hour, effective Aug. 23; Stephanie Schneider of St. Marys as facilitator at $10 per hour, effective Aug. 23.
Supplemental contracts were awarded to: April Auman as assistant cheerleading coach for a new contract at a rate of $1,200; Mary Bellotti as assistant gymnastics coach for a new contract at a rate of $1,200; Angelita Catalone as sophomore class advisor for a renewed contract at a rate of $244; Justina Cesa as head cheerleading coach at a renewed rate of $2,100; Julie Chicola as sophomore class advisor at a renewed rate of $244; David Doran as intramural soccer coach-junior high at a new rate of $300; Francis Fox Jr. as volunteer assistant soccer coach; Timothy Frey as intramural assistant boy's basketball coach-sixth grade at a renewed rate of $315; Nancy Gerber as English department chairperson at a renewed rate of $383; Martha Healy as middle school newspaper advisor at a renewed rate of $465; Justin Huey as volunteer assistant soccer coach-junior high; Michelle Jackson as DECA advisor at a renewed rate of $486; Sandra James as Band-o-Rama advisor at a renewed rate of $175; Sandra James as elementary band instructor at a renewed rate of $895; Elaine Lee as model U.N. advisor at a renewed rate of $972; Irene McCandless as head gymnastics coach at a renewed rate of $3,422 and intramural gymnastics coach (fall) at a renewed rate of $931; Danielle Micale as volunteer assistant girls' soccer coach; Chelsea Mulcahy as assistant girls' soccer coach at a new rate of $1,200; Beth Penn as middle school yearbook advisor at a renewed rate of $336; James Pistner as assistant boys' soccer coach at a new rate of $1,200; Ashley Polaski as assistant cheerleading coach-junior varsity at a new rate of $1,200; Amy Reed as eighth grade class advisor at a renewed rate of $405; Rachel Schreiber as volunteer assistant volleyball coach; Jessica Schutz as volunteer assistant volleyball coach; Edwin Schwer III as middle school band director at a renewed rate of $1,811; Amy Shines as middle school chorus director at a renewed rate of $488; Terry Surra as business department chairperson at a renewed rate of $726; Michele Tripodi as science department head at a renewed rate of $315; Kati Wendel as volunteer assistant volleyball coach; Joesey Williams as volunteer assistant volleyball coach; and Stacey Yetzer as head teacher-Fox Township Elementary School at a renewed rate of $840.
Additionally, one health aide substitute, six substitute teachers, five support substitutes, and one homebound teacher were approved for hire in the 2011-2012 school year. The board also approved four leaves of absence.
